Job Summary


The Senior Technical Specialist, RAN and E2E Performance (REP), is a subject matter expert for the End to End data and video performance of the Optus Mobile Network, with a focus on both Radio Access Network data experience and RAN optimisation principles, as well as considering overall end to end performance and troubleshooting of data services to improve our customers experience.



Key Responsibilities


  • Huawei/Ericsson/Nokia RAN Performance optimisation techniques and processes.
  • Subject Matter Expert for E2E Probe and data capture tools usage and analysis, including detailed troubleshooting of data and video performance issues.
  • Performance analytics to troubleshoot, optimise and find new ways to enhance network performance with modern data science techniques and data probing capabilities.
  • Prime interface to vendors and other 3rd party suppliers on data and video performance troubleshooting, remediation techniques and implementation, including competitive benchmarking.
  • Developing and executing E2E Data test plans, analysis of session logs and recommendations.
  • Maintain current view of Optus’ competitive 3rd party benchmarking with respect to E2E data performance and leading the creation of improvement plans to deliver as per AOP targets to achieve leadership in the market for E2E data performance.




Experience and Qualifications


  • Around 15 years experience in Mobile networks design and optimisation.
  • Expert level understanding of 3G, 4G and 5G parameters and counters.
  • Expert level in understanding IP Network performance drivers, protocols, relevant analysis and probing tools, network architecture, switching/routing/ peering/interconnect and transport interworking.
  • Detailed experience in analysing active (drive test) and Passive Probe data from the RAN and Core network, then determining and driving a solution with relevant teams.
  • Solid understanding of the Packet Core network and its impact on Customer Experience.
  • High proficiency in data extraction, manipulation, regression and analysis.
  • Strong presentation and message simplification skills , ability to coach and skill up other engineers and managers of lower or higher job grade.
  • Expert level experience with either Huawei, Nokia and/or Ericsson RAN
