Optus Wholesale plays a critical role in enabling Australia’s digital economy, delivering high‑quality fixed, mobile, and digital network services to our wholesale partners at scale. We are seeking a Senior Product Manager – Access & Strategic Initiatives to lead the evolution and performance of our fixed access portfolio and drive major AOP critical strategic initiatives.
This is a senior, end‑to‑end product leadership role with accountability for strategy, investment governance, delivery execution, and in‑life performance across complex wholesale platforms and services.
The Role
You will own the end‑to‑end product strategy and lifecycle for a critical set of fixed access and strategic initiatives, shaping how legacy platforms evolve and how next‑generation wholesale networks scale. Working at the intersection of Product, Networks, Commercial, Sales, Marketing, Operations, IT, and Finance; you will ensure portfolio direction, delivery priorities, and investment decisions are aligned to Optus Wholesale’s Fixed AOP and long‑term growth agenda.
This role is pivotal in driving large‑scale, cross‑functional initiatives such as platform convergence and next‑generation access programs, whilst identifying new commercial opportunities and ensuring disciplined execution from business case through to in‑life optimisation.
What you will do
- Lead the development and execution of Access and Strategic Initiatives product strategy, contributing directly to the Fixed AOP through clearly defined roadmaps, investment priorities, and delivery milestones.
- Own AOP aligned business casing, including benefits definition, financial modelling, risk assessment, and governance artefacts to support CAPEX and investment approvals.
- Govern the end‑to‑end product development lifecycle from strategic scoping and platform design through to network build, commercial launch, and in‑life enhancement.
- Manage portfolio performance through KPI tracking, gap analysis, and contingency planning, ensuring delivery outcomes remain aligned to AOP targets and customer commitments.
- Lead the CAPEX governance process for Access and Strategic product developments, including gate reviews, executive submissions, and approval workflows.
- Prepare and present clear, decision ready product updates to senior leadership forums (e.g. BPR, SLT), providing transparency on progress, risks, and dependencies.
- Represent Optus Wholesale product direction and readiness to customers and partners, supporting engagement through briefings, roadshows, and strategic forums.
- Drive strong cross‑functional alignment, ensuring Marketing, Sales, Commercial, Networks, IT, Legal, and Operations are synchronised from concept through to in‑life delivery.
- Establish and maintain robust product documentation, pricing constructs, launch plans, and reporting frameworks to support scalable wholesale operations.
What makes you perfect for the role
- Proven leadership of complex Wholesale product initiatives across the fixed access portfolios, spanning strategic scoping and AOP aligned business casing through governed network/platform build, commercial launch, and in‑life enhancement delivery.
- Deep end‑to‑end product management experience within wholesale telecommunications, with accountability for lifecycle ownership, portfolio performance, and commercial outcomes.
- Strong strategic capability, with the ability to shape business models, evaluate new product and partnership opportunities, and align diverse stakeholder expectations.
- Demonstrated experience operating within formal investment and delivery governance, including CAPEX management and executive level decision forums.
- Highly effective cross‑functional leader, able to influence without authority and drive alignment across complex organisational and partner ecosystems.
- Commercially astute, with strong capability in pricing, launch management, performance reporting, and contractual clarity.
- Confident communicator, able to translate complexity into clear narratives for senior executives, customers and partners.
What’s in it for you?
- Be part of a high‑performing, outcome‑driven Optus Wholesale team delivering nationally significant infrastructure and services.
- Flexible working arrangements, including a hybrid model with three days in the office and two days remote.
- Access to a vibrant Optus campus with on‑site amenities including cafés, gym, GP, childcare, and wellbeing facilities.
- Competitive leave offerings, including additional Connected Days to focus on what matters most to you.
