Responsible for administering DB2 databases includes installation and ensuring performance, availability and security exceed the SLA requirements.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases
  • Work to ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases and to ensure high resilience and performance tuning
  • To proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with no or minimal downtime
  • Provide trend analysis and reports to management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving of DB2, DB2 connect and other related tools
  • Improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades
  • Implementation and release of database changes according to agreed timescales and costs
  • Installing and maintaining database system on a z/OS environment
  • Monitoring and optimizing the performance, security, backup, recovery or integrity of database management systems
  • Member in a team to provide 24X7 supports on rotation basis
 
Ideal candidate should possess the following:    
      
  • In depth DB2 Database Administration experience
  • Experience of managing multiple versions of DB2 such as DB2 v10.1 and DB2 v11.1 RDBMS on large systems in a z/OS environment
  • Experience in handling and using tools such as IBM DB2 Performance Expert, DB2 Admin and Object Compare, IBM Log Analysis, and BMC Mainview for DB2
  • Strong self-sufficiency and initiative working on Database projects
  • Familiar in SDSF, Sysview, RMM, RACF would be an added advantage
  • Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service
  • Experience of DB2 software Installation and upgrade and DB2 z/OS Datasharing in a sysplex environment
  • Good Knowledge of SMP/E, JCL, SQL, DB2 online and offline utilities, ZPARMS, DB2 logs and BSDS, DB2 Commands, DDF etc
  • Good knowledge of various DB2 utilities. Capable of troubleshooting issues and ability to provide good resolution
  • Experience in supporting for Disaster recovery exercises
  • Experience in version upgrade
  • Experience in other RDBMS such as DB2 on LUW, MS-SQL Server is an added advantage
  • Minimum 4 years experienced in managing and supporting production databases on a large scale.
