As a Fire and Safety Maintenance Engineer in a Data Centre, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of critical infrastructure. This entry-level position is suitable for recent graduates with a background in fire and safety engineering or a related field.
 

Key Responsibilities:

Fire Prevention and Detection: Conduct regular inspections of fire suppression systems, including sprinklers, fire alarms, and gas-based suppression systems.
Implement preventive maintenance measures to ensure the continuous functionality of fire detection and suppression equipment.

Emergency Response Planning: Assist in the development and review of emergency response plans, ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulations.
Conduct regular drills and simulations to evaluate the effectiveness of emergency response procedures.

 

Safety Inspections: Perform safety inspections of the data centre facility to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Collaborate with other teams to address safety concerns and implement corrective measures.

 

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, equipment testing, and maintenance activities.

Generate reports on safety performance and provide recommendations for improvements.

 

Training and Awareness: Conduct safety training sessions for data centre personnel, emphasizing best practices and emergency procedures.

Stay informed about new safety technologies and industry developments.

Collaboration: Work closely with facility engineers, maintenance teams, and external contractors to address safety-related issues and implement improvements.

Coordinate with local authorities and emergency services to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

 

Skills for Success

 

The ideal candidate should possess:
Bachelor's degree in Fire and Safety Engineering, Industrial Safety, or a related field.

Knowledge of fire prevention and suppression systems, safety regulations, and emergency response planning.

Familiarity with data centre operations and critical facility infrastructure is advantageous.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
