The Manager will drive positive media coverage as well as promote and protect reputation, taking an organized, detail-oriented, and energetic approach. The Manager should have a passion for storytelling and writing, and preferably have a good understanding of the telecom, media and technology industries, or a strong aptitude for acquiring new domain knowledge. The Manager must possess strong critical thinking skills and be fluent in social media tools and be able to leverage relevant platforms for executive positioning and thought leadership.
The role is Singapore-based and will report to the VP of Group Strategic Communications and Brand.
Make an Impact by
- Work with a team of communications professionals to protect and enhance the reputation of Singtel
- Drive positive coverage across a broad range of media, including consumer, business and trade publications and digital, social platforms
- Manage the creation of internal and external communications materials
- Organise press briefings, events, and prepare related materials such as Admin briefs, project management plans, etc
- Think critically and provide counsel to cross-functional partners across policy, legal, marketing etc. within the company on all forms of public communications including media engagement, crisis management, speaking events, high-profile presentations, etc
- Monitor traditional and online media and take appropriate steps to rectify negative publicity and impact - proactively identify, monitor and manage crises and issues and develop crisis management communication plans in collaboration with business units
- Plan and manage executive profiles of key leaders – be able to leverage relevant/ suitable social media platforms to extend Singtel’s key messages and position the organisation and executives as thought leaders
- Have some experience with developing materials that can be shared across digital platforms, eg: podcasts
Skills for Success
- A degree from a recognised university, preferably specialising in Mass Communications/Public Relations/Business.
- Possess minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience in corporate communications, media relations and issues management (preferably in a publicly listed company).
- Writing and editing skills including speech writing. Must have ability and passion for writing
- Integrated communications experience
- Excellent people skills and command of written and spoken English
- Ability to demonstrate a successful track record in the following areas:
- Lead projects to achieve stipulated objectives and goals
- Self-starter who possesses strong planning and organisational skills, very resourceful
- Able to produce clear, factual and relevant information in written format
- Strengths in relationship management and ability to influence peers, subordinates, seniors and external media
- Good project skills
- Technology and net-savvy, proficient in Microsoft Office applications
