This role partners closely with business leaders to deliver employee relations and operational HR support across the organisation. You will manage a range of people matters, including grievance and case management, performance-related support, and workforce initiatives, ensuring fair, consistent, and compliant people practices. Through hands-on advisory and coaching, you will enable leaders to manage their teams confidently while balancing employee advocacy with business priorities.
Key responsibilities
Employee Relations & Case Management
- Serve as a key point of contact for employee and manager people-related matters, providing timely, practical, and sound HR advice.
- Manage end-to-end employee relations cases across the employment lifecycle, including grievance handling, disciplinary matters, workplace disputes, and involuntary separations.
- Conduct fair, thorough, and confidential investigations into complaints of harassment, misconduct, discrimination, and policy breaches, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and internal governance standards.
- Mediate workplace conflicts involving employees, management, unions, and relevant stakeholders, recommending balanced and appropriate resolutions.
Performance & Workforce Support
- Advise and support managers on performance management processes, including documentation standards and the implementation and monitoring of Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).
- Partner with People & Culture Business Partners and business leaders on workforce initiatives, ensuring fair and compliant outcomes.
Advisory, Governance & Risk Management
- Provide hands-on advisory and coaching support to frontline managers on people management matters and non-self-serve HR processes.
- Ensure consistent application of employee relations policies and procedures across the organisation.
- Identify trends and potential risks from employee relations cases and provide insights to strengthen people practices and mitigate risk.
Continuous Improvement & Projects
- Contribute to the enhancement of employee relations processes and workflows to improve efficiency and service delivery.
- Support or lead assigned people initiatives and projects as directed, ensuring timely and quality execution.
The ideal candidate should have/be:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or business administration, and is IHRP Certified.
- At least 5 years of relevant HR experience, with exposure to employee relations and operational HR matters.
- Proven experience managing end-to-end employee relations cases, including investigations, grievances, disciplinary and performance-related matters.
- Practical and current knowledge of employment legislation, industrial relations requirements, HR compliance obligations, and relevant HR systems and technologies.
- Experience partnering with managers to provide pragmatic advisory support on people management and employee relations matters.
- Strong communication, organisational and prioritisation skills, with the integrity and sound judgment to manage multiple, sensitive cases in a fast-paced environment.
