The Test Manager is responsible for the delivery of testing services across Singtel development initiatives where TMO has been engaged. Test Managers are directly responsible for provision of support, oversight and strategic direction to the Test Architects and delivery team working in their assigned service tower, thus providing verification of the quality of test architecture and wider test delivery.

 

Through demonstrated technical and strategic IT skill and familiarity with historical vendor performance the Test Manager plays a pivotal role in successful delivery through selection of the test vendor, thereby ensuring the selected vendor has the expertise and the capability to deliver testing on schedule and budget. The Test Manager through performing a strategic and quality assurance role will ensure that the test solutions delivered meet the technical and commercial needs of IT. The Test Manager is responsible for delivery of testing on schedule and budget.

 

Relationship management is a key aspect of the Test Management role. The Test Manager will be the key escalation and feedback point for IT Management -from Production Coordinators, System Owners, and Portfolio Owners etc. The Test Manager is expected to be aware of high impact issues encountered by their customers and to play an active role in their resolution where necessary. The Test Manager will also maintain oversight of project milestones and deliverables within their Service Tower.

 

Test Managers are responsible for ensuring that implemented test processes are used effectively by the vendor delivery team operating to successfully deliver testing. The Test Manager is accountable for the quality of both the test deliverables and the test delivery and are expected to liaise with the TMO process function (Delivery manager and process team) to advise where process gaps have been identified and where existing process requires fine tuning.  This position will interface directly with the TMO Process Team, Singtel IT management, vendors and project teams to fulfill their role in understanding and creating testing best practices in the TMO testing process. 

 

The Test Manager is critical to the provision of meaningful metrics from the delivery; these metrics as defined by TMO Management will be used for external reporting, vendor management and for driving continuous improvement in the TMO processes.  As with all delivery, the Test Manager is accountable for the quality of the metrics from delivery. The Test Manager will also support effective test vendor delivery through vendor management around SLA and contract adherence. The Test Manager is accountable for management of Test Delivery vendors to ensure that the vendors remain within scope, schedule and cost.

 

The Test Manager is accountable for the conduct of Root Cause analysis for production defects encountered as the result of IT Changes led by their service domains. The Test Manager is responsible for ensuring the output of the RCA of production defects is provided to the IP Retention Specialist.

The TMO Test Managers are expected to work with the delivery and operational teams to identify required IP and TMO needs to assign Test Delivery Manager resources required for the delivery of test services to ensure that TMO Alignment/operational and project delivery needs have been met.

 

For Test Delivery Managers will coach, mentor, motivate and supervise Test Delivery Managers and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.

 

Test Managers are expected to continually improve the test infrastructure, processes and systems to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of test services.  Recruiting and managing permanent and contract staff in pursuit of meeting testing goals also forms part of this role.  

 

The ideal candidate should have/be:

  • An IT or related tertiary qualification with considerable Test Management or Test Team Leading experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Testing
  • Expert knowledge of quality improvement, quality process, quality assurance methodologies, and best practices.
  • Proven Performance and automation testing experience, within a complex, multi-tiered architecture.
  • Expert knowledge of test tools and designing technical frameworks.
    (e.g. HP ALM QC/PC v12.00 or higher, HP Vugen LoadRunner and analysis, HP BAC diagnostics, HP Sitescope, HP UFT, Selenium with Cucumber/Ruby, Jenkins, XCTest and Espresso.)
  • Familiar with Microsoft and Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Good knowledge of Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases.
  • Strong organizational, writing, and interpersonal communications with the ability to influence others at all levels (client facing, commercially aware, assertiveness, consensus building, and negotiation).
  • Test analysis skills and techniques (e.g. workshop facilitation, interviewing, problems/requirements definition)
  • Ability to clearly articulate both problems and proposed solutions.
  • A proactive approach to identifying issues and presenting solutions/options.
  • Ability to prioritize personal and team workloads to best meet organizational objectives.
  • ISTQB/ISEB Certification
