The Senior BI Analyst plays a pivotal role in the Business Intelligence & Visualisation chapter, driving a data-driven culture by crafting scalable BI assets and frameworks to generate guided insights. Operating in an Agile environment, the role focuses on migrating enterprise BI platforms from Tableau to Power BI, including dashboard transfers, ETL pipeline optimization, and semantic model development, while encouraging business-wide adoption of Power BI. Collaborating across Optus Consumer, the Senior BI Analyst engages with business partners, including senior leadership and executives, to improve understanding and adoption of BI solutions, enabling improved efficiency and effectiveness through actionable insights.
Your day to day will consist of...

Design, develop, and implement advanced Power BI dashboards and reports, incorporating complex DAX calculations and maintaining semantic data models for optimal performance and scalability.

Transform and integrate data from various sources using Power Query and ETL tools, while transitioning existing Tableau reports and dashboards to Power BI.

Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure data accuracy, relevance, and delivery of BI solutions using Agile methodologies.

Establish and maintain standards, guidelines, standardised practices, and frameworks for Business Intelligence capabilities across the enterprise.

Proactively identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in BI solutions across business units at Optus, synthesizing raw data into actionable insights.

Mentor junior BI analysts, contribute to the leadership of the BI & Visualisation Chapter, and help manage the Visualisation Community for consistent and sustainable dashboard development.
What makes you perfect for the role?

Tertiary qualifications in a STEM or business field, postgraduate qualifications preferred; certifications in Power BI, data preparation tools (e.g., Alteryx, SQL, Python), and Agile methodologies (e.g., SA, POPM).

Extensive hands-on in Business Intelligence or Analytics, plus in Agile environments, experience in large organisations with complex datasets, Power BI dashboard creation, and data transformation using Databricks.

Advanced proficiency in Power BI and Tableau, including DAX, Power Query, and semantic data models; expertise in data preparation, wrangling, and performance tuning; knowledge of data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake), cloud platforms (e.g., Azure), and Agile delivery tools like JIRA.

Solid understanding of Data Management, Data Governance, Data Modeling, and Data Architecture; proficiency in additional BI tools like Qlik; advanced problem-solving skills and ability to drive best practices.

Industry experience in telecommunications and familiarity with cloud ecosystems, including Azure, AWS, and GCP.

Superb communication, leadership, presentation, influencing, and time/project management skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences with varying technical expertise.

Proven track record in leading change, embedding the best results across multidisciplinary teams, and fostering adoption of BI solutions in large organizations.
