The Senior Director will represent the office of Security and Risk on the Networks SLT, supported by a centralized team of architecture and risk professionals, working in partnership with the business unit risk leads to identify, assess, report on, and monitor all risks and issues, and strengthen controls.

 

What You’ll Do

Partnering closely with the GM, Security and Risk Transformation, Optus executive leadership, and Networks senior leadership team, you will lead implementation, adherence, and effectiveness of Optus risk management standards across Networks.

Strong leadership capabilities, stakeholder management, systems thinking, and solutions-driven approach, are crucial skills.  Given the seniority of the key stakeholders, there is a strong requirement to demonstrate a collaborative and solutions-driven approach, effectively building relationships and bringing stakeholders on board, whilst also having the confidence to challenge in a constructive manner when required. The role will undertake enablement activities in support of driving a risk aware culture and knowledge development.  The role also requires strong understanding of how an organization operates and how risk needs to be considered in operational and strategic decision making. Being able to draw insights and identify systemic issues and emerging risks are critical requirements of the role.

 

What You’ll Bring

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • 15+ years in enterprise risk, operational risk management, risk engineering, internal audit, combined with sound understanding of network engineering
  • Experience in leading a team of senior risk specialists
  • Board/C-level stakeholder management and comfortability presenting to this level
  • Ability to navigate large and complex enterprise environments
  • Influencing diverse stakeholders are varying levels of seniority
  • Understanding risk and controls standards and other industry frameworks and best practice standards large, enterprise risk environments with Line 1 risk experience
  • Demonstrated experience in using risk tooling and methodologies to undertake required reporting and governance activities
  • Capability to merge and analyse data sets from multiple internal and external sources to draw insights
  • Ability to effectively interrogate a process and identify critical risk
  • Customer-centric, independent decision-making authority that will impact process and OPEX in Optus
  • Background and strong understanding of in telecommunications networking
  • Degree qualification in Engineering or similar discipline
  • Qualification in Risk Management or Internal Audit
