The amaysim Finance team is an integral part of the business providing financial and commercial support and analysis for decision making to the SLT and its teams across Product Commercial, Operations, Sales, Marketing & CX, Tech and Challenger Brands.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Senior Commercial Analyst will play a key role within the Commercial Finance Team, business partnering with department heads across the business with a focus on detailed financial analysis, variance and driver analysis on operating and capital expenditure, FTE analysis and forecasting to drive improvement within the planning and forecasting process.
While the role will have an initial focus on operating and capital expenditure, there will be opportunities for exposure across the entire P&L and Balance sheet and will suit a strong communicator who can use their financial and commercial experience to guide and influence smart business decisions that will help amaysim continue to grow sustainably into the future. This incudes monthly Business reviews with the SLT which involves preparing slides and presenting to an executive audience with key drivers and insights.
This role will also have responsibilities for detailed modelling and business casing of smaller growth related initiatives and includes sensitivities, scenario planning and presenting to key business stakeholders.
What You will Do
- Lead the planning and forecasting processes for Operating costs, FTE and capital expenditure, liaising with Optus counterparts to finalise annual and quarterly forecasts and budgets.
- Support business units by using financial modelling and scenario analysis on specific business cases for growth related projects and initiatives.
- Using internal systems to track updates to Operating cost performance and FTE position against forecasts in order to update relevant business stakeholders and SLT in a timely manner.
- Preparing and presenting the monthly Business review meetings with SLT, providing value adding drivers and insights on operating costs, FTE and capital expenditure.
- Identifying and analysing trends, risks and opportunities, and leveraging your stakeholder a skills/influence to proactively steer the business into making smart commercial decisions.
- Identifying and leading the implementation of process improvement and any automation opportunities from an operating and capitalised expenditure perspective
- Supporting the Commercial Manager and Finance Director in delivering excellence in all FP&A matters as well as assisting with any Audit matters relating to operating costs and capital expenditure.
- Assist and cross train across other areas of the finance and commercial teams, ensuring that the team is providing the best service to the amaysim and Optus businesses and mitigating leave risk within the team Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in amaysim, Challenger Brands and Optus.
- Acting as business partner for the devices business, including forecasting and analysis of the end-to-end devices P&L, financial modelling for proposed devices offers and partnerships.
What makes you perfect for the role?
- Education level, knowledge and work/industry experience in accounting or finance related field
- Experience in Microsoft GP or SAP (or similar) Tertiary qualification in an accounting or finance related field
- Experience in TM1, Tableau or other similar BI tools
- Experience with financial modelling/Forecasting
- Experience in a business partnering capacity
- Negotiation and presentation skills,
- Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Skills
- Ability to work both autonomously and within a close-knit team
- Strong communication and relationship building skills
- Strong commercial acumen and financial literacy with a good understanding of business trends
- CA / CPA / CFA or working towards Professional/technical skills
