Singtel's Strategic Investment division is on the lookout for a Senior Director. This role involves leading and overseeing substantial M&A initiatives and directing non-core divestitures to align with Singtel Group's strategic aims while optimizing results. The selected candidate will also play a pivotal role in evaluating and assisting with strategic M&A operations executed by our Group Associates and provide essential support to IG and board members of Singtel as required. A crucial part of the role is nurturing and expanding the capabilities of our GSI team members.

 

 

Make an Impact by

 

  • Project managing a cross-functional team of subject matter experts in any merger, acquisition, or divestment process. Lead valuation, business assessment, and due diligence exercise effectively and efficiently
  • Providing well-thought-out advice and recommendations to BU management on opportunities, including strategic rationale, valuation, deal structure and risks
  • Delivering detailed valuation assessment, based on sound technical approaches and expertise, on the targets (including and not limited to DCF analysis)
  • Negotiating terms and conditions with prospective sellers or partners or buyers in the best interest of Singtel Group, including ensuring appropriate level of corporate governance and safeguards against material loss of investment value are in place
  • Conducting preliminary assessment on potential opportunities, as and when they arise
  • Managing external parties in the process, including prospective partners, sellers or buyers, government officials, investment bankers and financial advisors
  • Providing guidance to Singtel Group Associates in the aspect of strategic investments when necessary, and always protect Singtel’s interest in Associates
  • Bring M&A experience to bear to mentor and develop GSI talent

 

 

Skills for Success

 

To excel in this role, you should have:

 

Education and Qualifications:

Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business. MBA and other advanced certifications is desirable

 

Work Experience:

  • 9-10 years in M&A with at least 2 years in a project lead role. Investment banking experience is a plus.
  • Essential skills in financial modeling and valuation (including DCF).
  • Commercial financial, management, accounting, and audit experience in an MNC.
  • Proven expertise in leading contract negotiations.
  • Familiarity with the telecommunications, media, and technology (TMT) business landscape is a plus

 

Technical / Professional Skills:

  • Deep knowledge in commercial and financial valuation.
  • Exceptional analytical abilities with the skill to assess the financial repercussions of business decisions.
  • Mastery in M&A negotiations, understanding the legal intricacies of M&A agreements.
  • Demonstrable project management skills, adept at handling multiple projects.
  • Acumen in TMT operations and environment.

 

Non-Technical / Soft Skills:

  • Sound business and commercial acumen
  • Good interpersonal and EQ skills in a multi-cultural environment; ability to interact and work across functions/levels/different nationalities is critical
  • A team player who establishes outstanding relationships, faith and trust with Singtel Top Executives and is effective in communicating and providing suggestions/advice
