The role also requires breaking down use cases and detailed designs into development tasks, estimating complexity and duration, and contributing to design/code reviews and engineering decision-making, bringing technical perspectives to business requirements.
What You’ll Do
As the ServiceNow Senior Engineer you will play a critical role in engineering, designing, developing, and implementing ServiceNow solutions across ITSM, ITOM, CSM, GRC, SecOps and other modules. Your responsibilities will include:
- Solution Design & Architecture Awareness, translating business requirements into technical solutions, and ensuring alignment with architectural standards and scalability principles
- Development & Configuration: Configure and customise ServiceNow modules (ITSM, ITOM, CSM, GRC, SecOps, etc.), including workflows, business rules, client scripts, UI policies, and notifications
- Integration: Build and maintain integrations with enterprise systems.
- Process Automation: Develop automated workflows and orchestration scripts to streamline operations and reduce manual effort
- Conduct Unit Testing and participate in SIT and UAT to ensure solution integrity and performance.
- CI/CD & DevOps Enablement: Design and maintain ServiceNow deployment pipelines using GitLab or similar tools; ensure automated build and deployment processes
- Performance Optimisation: Monitor and tune ServiceNow applications for performance, scalability, and reliability
- Technical Leadership: Mentor engineers, perform code reviews, and enforce best practices for ServiceNow development.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for platform optimisation and innovation; stay updated on ServiceNow releases and industry trends
- Compliance & Security: Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with organisational and regulatory requirements.
- Engineering Standards & Documentation: Maintain technical documentation, coding standards, reusable components, and enforce best practices for ServiceNow development.
What You’ll Bring
- B.S./M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics and Mathematics, Information Systems and/or equivalent formal training or work experience.
- ServiceNow Implementation Certifications and ServiceNow Certified Application Developer
- 12+ years overall IT experience ideally with experience in telco
- 8+ years in ServiceNow development and configuration (ITSM, ITOM, CSM)
- ServiceNow scripting (JavaScript, Glide API) - Flow Designer & Integration Hub
- REST/SOAP API integrations
- CMDB management
- Automated Ticketing Exchange (ATE) implementation
- CI/CD pipeline setup (GitLab or similar)
- Strong analytical, creative, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Competence in Agile methodologies
- Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement
- Interest in and ability to coach and mentor engineers
