The Senior Finance Manager - Record to Report - will lead and support the establishment of a new shared services function. This newly created role will be based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and will play a key part in setting up a brand-new RTR team that supports multiple business units within the organization. The role is responsible for hiring, developing, and managing a team of approximately 34 members while embedding the organization’s values and operating culture into the shared services environment.

 

Make an Impact By:

Leadership & Management

  • Lead the establishment and operationalization of a new finance shared services center based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
  • Oversee end-to-end General Ledger (GL) accounting activities for multiple business units, including journal postings, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, financial reporting, annual financial statements, and required schedules
  • Manage and mentor a team of finance specialists to ensure accurate and timely execution of the full month-end close cycle

Shared Services Performance Management

  • Define and align service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) with stakeholders
  • Monitor service delivery performance to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to agreed timelines
  • Coordinate and lead all month-end close activities across the shared services team

Compliance & Control

  • Maintain a strong internal control environment that supports compliance with policies, tax requirements, and statutory obligations
  • Strengthen control relevance and improve process timeliness across all RTR-related activities
  • Ensure all reporting and financial close outputs meet governance, compliance, and quality standards

Process Optimization

  • Drive continuous improvement by standardizing, simplifying, and optimizing finance processes and
    systems
  • Enhance standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve clarity, consistency, and implementation
    effectiveness
  • Support process excellence initiatives and contribute to operational scalability

Team Development

  • Inspire, coach, and develop team members to deliver high-quality services within established turnaround times
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning

Audit Support

  • Support internal and external audit requirements by preparing necessary documentation, addressing
    queries, and ensuring timely completion of audit activities
  • Work closely with controllers and other finance leaders to ensure audit readiness and compliance

 

Skills for Success:

  • Degree in business, commerce, or a professional accounting qualification
  • More than 15 years of financial accounting experience in large organizations, including at least 10 years in leadership or people management roles
  • Strong technical accounting background with exposure across operational and strategic finance
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop diverse finance teams while building effective crossfunctional relationships
  • Experienced in process and system improvements with strong project management capabilities and the ability to meet tight reporting deadlines
  • Strong change management, stakeholder engagement, influencing, and negotiation skills
  • Able to thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments and contribute to organizational growth and transformation
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with SAP, BlackLine, or RPA tools related to financial close and reconciliation is an advantage
  • Demonstrates strong analytical thinking, sound decision‑making, creativity, and resourcefulness
  • A proactive self-starter and team player with strong organizational discipline
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines consistently
