Senior Legal Counsel, NCS

To provide the following functions for the NCS Group of companies as part of the Group Enterprise division of Singapore Telecommunications Ltd, in Singapore, HKSAR, Australia and other countries in Asia Pacific where its subsidiaries are located or where projects are pursued and to be delivered:

 

Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing contracts, tenders, vendor and reseller agreements (for hardware, software and services) in compliance with the contract policy, proposing amendments and highlighting and advising on and proposing solutions in relation to contractual issues, legal and commercial risks to the business engagement teams.
  • Negotiating with counterparties as required.
  • Preparing applications for exceptions approval in accordance with the Group Contracts policies
  • Conducting legal training for the business and delivery teams, including the preparation of training materials.
  • Rendering legal advice to NCS corporate functions. 
  • Supporting periodic audit exercise (by SingTel and internal departments) on the company and the legal department.
  • Other duties – reviewing policies and processes of legal function, collating and analysing data, preparing reports and policy papers for the general improvement of the legal function and processes, participating in AI projects to achieve better operating efficiencies
  • All necessary reporting and liaison with parent company for above responsibilities, including periodic litigation reporting.
  • Any other function as assigned from time to time.

 

The ideal candidate should have/ be:

  • A good bachelor’s or master’s degree in law from Singapore or England.
  • Called to the Singapore Bar.
  • 11 – 14 years PQE with several years in private practice in a good law firm. Experience could be in corporate work or litigation. In-house experience in an IT or IP environment will be an advantage; candidates without this experience but who are keen to work in an IT environment may also apply.
  • Possess strong linguistic ability and good people management skills.
  • Strong work ethic, able to work in focused manner and within tight timelines.
  • Willing to undertake occasional travel.
