Date: 3 Jun 2026

Location: Sydney, Australia

Company: Singtel Group

Optus is an Australian telecommunication's company, delivering more than 11 million services to our customers every day across mobile, broadband and digital solutions.

At Optus, we're dedicated to doing right by our customers and this role sits at the heart of that dedication. As Senior Manager, Pre Assurance, you will be central to improving our risk and control environment while meeting Optus' Enforceable Undertaking obligations with the ACCC.

Reporting to the Director of Assurance, you'll act as a hands-on advisor by partnering with senior business and risk leaders. You will assess control efficiency, co-design balanced governance frameworks, and drive measurable improvements in risk maturity. Your work will span customer complaints, sales conduct, customer vulnerability, credit management, and credit decisioning.

This is a high-visibility role for an experienced risk and compliance professional who thrives in sophisticated, supervised environments and is ready to make a tangible impact.

Your day to day will consist of

  • Establish and maintain clear terms of reference for key risk and compliance forums, ensuring governance operates with precision and accountability
  • Own end-to-end responsibility for forum governance — meeting cadences, agenda setting, decision tracking, minute accuracy, and follow-through
  • Partner with business and risk leads to review control efficiency and co-design balanced, auditable controls aligned to regulatory requirements
  • Provide expert input into preventative and detective control strategies
  • Support audit and assurance readiness, ensuring governance artefacts are accurate, current, and defensible
  • Collaborate across Line 1 and Line 2 to align with existing and emerging risk and compliance frameworks
  • Drive risk maturity uplift through coaching, mentorship, and the development of fit-for-purpose risk artefacts
  • Input into management reporting and provide assurance over emerging and residual risks

What makes you perfect for the role?

  • 8 years+ experience in risk, assurance, or control roles within regulated environments
  • Proven experience coordinating senior-level risk or compliance forums
  • Strong understanding of Line 1 and Line 2 accountabilities within enterprise risk management
  • Proven expertise in control design, KRI development, and operational risk reporting
  • Experience within highly regulated sectors such as telecommunications, banking, financial services, or insurance
  • Practical knowledge of regulatory enforcement programs and governance structures
