Optus Sport are seeking a skilled Senior Media Operations Engineer to oversee the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our Broadcast Platforms and systems. You will ensure seamless operation of the live production environment of our streaming platform. This will include working closely with internal engineering and operations teams to deliver high service levels for our match fixtures.

***This is a shift-based role aligned with our live fixtures schedule and as such some night, weekend, and public holiday work (with appropriate compensation) maybe required. ***

Your day in the life of a Senior Media Operations Engineer at Optus

  • Manage live media operations, prepare for future operations tasks and assist with system engineering support.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical and operational issues during and outside of live broadcasts, ensuring system availability and function is maintained.
  • Implement quality control measures and actions to maintain and improve audio and video output.
  • Develop and implementing emergency response plans to address technical failures or other critical incidents, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal disruption to operations.
  • Provide guidance and support to engineering colleagues, system operators and other areas within Optus Sport.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare performance reports.
  • Stay current with industry trends and evaluate new technologies.

Your skills to pay the bills

  • Ability to manage the day-to-day activities of Live Media operations, ensuring all broadcast or production activities run smoothly and according to schedule.
  • Proficiency in performing routine maintenance, repairs, and upgrades on broadcast equipment, including servers, routers, switchers, monitors, and other hardware.
  • Expertise in quickly diagnosing and resolving technical issues that may arise during live broadcasts or production, minimizing downtime and ensuring minimal impact on operations.
  • Implementing and maintaining quality control measures to ensure the highest standards of audio and video output, including monitoring signal integrity and video/audio levels.
  • Experience maintaining accurate records of equipment inventory, maintenance activities, and technical specifications. Preparing reports as needed to track performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
  • Evaluate new equipment and software solutions, making recommendations for adoption as appropriate.
