The IT Infrastructure of Optus is a complex environment consisting of several Infrastructure Technologies. These technologies are configured and organised into Infrastructure Platforms.
All Singtel-Optus application systems are delivered by or operate on these Infrastructure Platforms. The Network Infrastructure Design team is accountable for creating network solution design of Corporate (in-house) data network infrastructure in accordance with Infosec policies, Group Network and IT standards and enterprise network security architecture.
The Network Infrastructure Solution Designer is responsible for understanding business scope and project requirements to develop and publish detailed technical network solution designs for connectivity and network functionality or performance.
The Major Infrastructure Platforms (on premise and cloud based) within the team’s accountability include:
- Physical and Virtual Routers/Switches and Load Balancers
- Software Defined Networking and Control Systems
- Wireless Controller and Access Point Technology
- Identity Services and Network Authentication/Access Control Systems
- Cloud Networking: Azure, AWS and Google.
This position is accountable for developing, deploying and maintaining detailed solution designs and cost estimates, next generation technology assessment and creating engineering guidelines or integration solutions for enhancement, growth and configuration to Corporate Network infrastructure platforms and end-to-end network services and connectivity.
Your day in the life of a Senior Network Designer at Optus
- Design of the Infrastructure Platforms in line with the Infrastructure Strategies and Architectures and business requirements
- Lifecycle Design for the Roadmap of Network Infrastructure Platforms
- Product Selection
- Tender Technical Evaluation/Technical Assessments
- Platform Proof of Concept
- Platform Optimisation and Cost Management
- Enabling Network Management visibility of the Corporate Network and Security infrastructure
- Platform Standard Operating Environment Development
- Infrastructure Subject Matter Expertise
- Develop, Document and Communicate Infrastructure Platform Road Maps, Standards/Template Patterns and Design Principles.
Your skills to pay the bills
- Demonstrable CCIE level experience working in a similar Network Infrastructure and/or Design role
- Experience with NXOS & IOS
- Very strong MPLS & BGP, Layer 2 & 3 VPN networking, OSPF routing
- Cloud AWS, Azure, Google, Cisco ISE, Wireless, Load Balancing, Firewalls & Software Defined Networking (ACI and VX LAN) - desirable.
