Senior R&D Engineer (NUS-Singtel Cyber Security R&D Laboratory)

This role will be based at the NUS-Singtel Cyber Security Research & Development Laboratory, the responsibilities include both applied research and software engineering tasks in post-quantum security. The partition in the research workload and engineering workload will be flexible, and according to the new hire’s capabilities and skills set.

 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Applied Research in Post Quantum Security (PQC, QKD, QRNG, etc)
  • Hands-on works: Develop software prototype; Conduct experiments and demo
  • Project Management: Plan and track project progress


Key Requirements:

 

The candidate is expected to have

  • Either a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering/Applied Math,
  • Or a Master degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering and at least one-year working experience,
  • Or a Bachelor degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering and at least two years of working experience in a related area.

The candidate with the Ph.D. title is expected to 

  • possess experience or interest in at least some of the following research areas:
    • Key management, Authentication, Authorization, and Access control
    • Trusted computing (e.g. TPM, Intel SGX)
    • Post-quantum cryptography
  • have a good publication record in cyber security and crypto area
  • have good communication skills, self-motivated and good team players;
  • be willing to perform practical research which may eventually lead to products


The candidate will work in a team with research fellows to implement a prototype of secure applications and services for mobile (iOS and/or Android) and PC platforms (Windows and Linux server).  

 

Candidates with the following skills or features have priority:

  • Good programming skills (in C/C++ and Python) and rich software development experience.
  • Network Server programming (e.g. in Golang).
  • With the help of research fellows, capable to understand security and cryptography algorithms to some extent, in order to implement the algorithms.
  • Good team player and good communication skills.
  • Contribute in system and algorithm design together with research fellows. The opportunity of co-authoring research papers/patents with research fellows will be provided. 
  • Experience in mobile development or Intel SGX is a plus.
  • Plan to develop a career in cyber security and eager to learn new relevant skills/knowledge in this domain.
  • If the candidate has very strong programming skill and rich software engineering experience, then the requirement of background knowledge in cyber security or cryptography can be waived.
