As part of this transformation, Singtel is strengthening its internal engineering leadership to design and govern enterprise-grade AI platforms and automation capabilities.

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to provide technical leadership across for new initatives. This role plays a critical part in shaping solution architecture, guiding delivery standards, and managing vendor and offshore engineering teams to ensure consistent, high-quality outcomes.

Make an Impact by:

AI and MCP agents   

• Design and Develop the MCP agents, tools and architect the MCP governance to be consumed by business flows
• Design and govern Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures, including data ingestion, indexing, retrieval pipelines, and response orchestration.
• Provide technical direction for development of MCP tools and AI-enabled services delivered by internal, vendor, and offshore teams.
• Ensure AI solutions are production-ready, scalable, observable, and aligned with Singtel’s enterprise architecture standards.

Technical Leadership & Architecture

• Own end-to-end technical solution design and architecture decisions for AI and automation initiatives.

• Establish engineering standards, design principles, and best practices across AI platforms and backend systems.
• Review and approve detailed technical designs, code structure, and deployment approaches produced by vendors or offshore teams.
• Evaluate emerging AI tools, platforms, and technologies, recommending adoption where there is clear business value and operational readiness.
• Identify and manage technical risks, dependencies, and architectural trade-offs. Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, providing technical guidance and reviewing critical designs.

Vendor & Offshore Resource Management

• Provide technical governance and oversight for vendors and offshore delivery teams, ensuring adherence to Singtel’s architecture, security, and quality standards.
• Review vendor deliverables, validate designs, and ensure compliance with functional and non-functional requirements.
• Guide task decomposition, estimation, and prioritisation to support effective offshore delivery.
• Act as the technical escalation point for delivery issues, architectural deviations, or quality concerns involving external partners.
• Support capability uplift of vendor and offshore teams through technical guidance, standards, and knowledge transfer.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

• Work closely with product owners, enterprise architects, cybersecurity, data, and operations teams to align AI solutions with business objectives.
• Communicate technical decisions, risks, and progress clearly to internal stakeholders and leadership.
• Facilitate alignment across multiple delivery teams operating across time zones.

Operations, Security & Governance 

• Ensure AI systems comply with Singtel’s cybersecurity, data governance, and regulatory requirements.
• Guide operational readiness, monitoring, and support models for AI-enabled platforms.
• Lead root-cause analysis and remediation for complex production issues affecting AI services.

Skills for Success:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
• At least 8-12 years of experience as software developer. 2-4 years AI/ML development; Experience leading complex system design and architecture; Experience managing vendors or offshore teams
• Experience designing and integrating AI/ML solutions into production systems; Strong understanding of RAG architectures, data pipelines, retrieval systems, and inference orchestration; Ability to evaluate feasibility, risk, and operational impact of AI solutions
• Expert-level proficiency in Python/Node.js/Go/Java; Strong system design, API architecture, and distributed systems expertise; Ability to conduct technical design and code reviews
• Strong experience with AWS/GCP/Azure; Proficiency with container platforms and deployment pipelines; Operational readiness and observability experience
• Strong understanding of secure coding, API security, identity/access management, and data governance
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills; Ability to influence vendors and offshore teams; Strong decision-making and problem-solving
