Senior Technical Specialist, Access Transport Design

Join Optus as a Senior Technical Specialist, where you’ll lead the architecture, design, and delivery of cutting-edge Access Transport solutions. This role is pivotal in shaping the Optus network, ensuring robust, secure, and scalable IP and Carrier Ethernet platforms that support our Fixed, Enterprise, and Mobile services. You’ll work on high-level architecture, hands-on configuration, and collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to deliver strategic initiatives.

Your day to day will consist of

• Designing and integrating IP and Carrier Ethernet solutions into the Optus Access Transport network.
• Producing high-level architecture and detailed design documentation aligned with business requirements.
• Performing lab testing, configuration, and implementation of network platforms.
• Acting as technical prime for projects, managing scoping, impact analysis, and deployment.
• Providing Tier 3 support for troubleshooting and problem resolution.
• Collaborating with internal teams and vendors to ensure successful delivery of network initiatives.

What makes you perfect for the role?

• Advanced expertise in IP network design, routing, switching, and Carrier Ethernet architecture.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco, Nokia, Juniper platforms and service integration.
• Proficiency in network automation tools and scripting (Python, NSO, Ansible).
• Strong ability to produce high-quality architecture and design documentation.
• Deep understanding of lifecycle management and cyber compliance for network platforms.
• Skilled in Tier 3 support, incident resolution, and root cause analysis.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
• Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and deliver technical training.
• Awareness of emerging technologies and ability to provide strategic technical recommendations
