The Senior Technical Specialist, Install & Commission Standards, position forms Network Deployment & Infrastructure National lead SME and document owner on all matters relating to equipment install commission & integration standards and services.

  • This a pivotal role with Optus Network Deployment & Infrastructure group which sets the technical standards for the build and install practices of Optus’ sites
  • Creation and maintenance of detailed quality, installation & commissioning standards, and documentation for all aspects of site quality, build and installation subject matters, to be used in the planning, design, and deployment of new or upgrading of existing infrastructure and equipment in the Optus’ mobile network.
  • Provide technical support and direction to Optus Deployment colleagues, Optus Service Assurance colleagues, Optus’ Network Operations Centre colleagues, Optus’ Supplier Partners and any third-party equipment or services supplier.
  • Develop and Innovate new installation practices, build products, systems and databases that support Optus Mobile Deployment Programs
  • Undertake trials at sites of new products or new build innovations within the Optus Network
  • Act as the Quality and Standards prime with Product and Services Suppliers, eJV Design Working Group with TPG, the eJV Office, and Optus Operations

It starts with you!

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or communications engineering, or other relevant tertiary qualification, or significant industry equivalent experience in a subject matter expert role
  • Extensive industry experience working on major mobile network deployment projects with focus on installation standards and quality.
  • Thorough understanding of 3G/4G/5G technologies, microwave & fibre transmission equipment and supporting products used in the deployment of mobile sites from a build, installation, and quality perspective.
  • Understanding of AC and DC power principles and design for mobile site infrastructure deployment and upgrades
  • A thorough understanding of mobile site configurations and a in depth knowledge of antenna systems used in deployment and upgrading of Mobile Sites Proven experience creating and documenting  mobile deployment processes and installation practices.
  • Demonstrable experience either undertaking or managing site build and/or technical equipment installation works for delivery of new mobile sites or upgrading existing sites.
  • Proficient and proven experience in technical document writing skills.
  • Understanding of integration and testing protocols and methodologies used for Mobile site infrastructure and equipment, fault management and root cause identification and solutions used to rectify.
