Date: 8 Feb 2026

Location: Sydney, Australia

Company: Singtel Group

Optus is an Australian telecommunications company, delivering more than 11 million services to our customers every day across mobile, broadband and digital solutions.

At Optus, we’re transforming how network performance is observed, understood and improved. We’re looking for a Senior Technical Specialist – Voice Performance to join our Probe and Observability team in Macquarie Park, where you’ll play a key role in monitoring, analysing and optimising the quality and performance of voice services across our mobile and fixed networks.

This role sits at the intersection of deep technical expertise and customer experience. You’ll leverage advanced probe and analytics platforms to proactively identify and resolve complex voice performance issues, working closely with Data Performance Engineers and network domain teams to deliver exceptional end‑to‑end service quality and support Optus’ evolution to a holistic, data‑driven observability model.

What You’ll Do

  • Monitor, analyse and optimise voice service performance across mobile and fixed networks
  • Design, maintain and enhance dashboards and reports focused on voice KPIs and KQIs across RAN, Core and IMS domains
  • Analyse key performance metrics including Call Setup Success Rate, Call Drop Rate and MOS to quantify and improve customer experience
  • Perform expert‑level end‑to‑end tracing and root cause analysis of complex voice issues using probe and analytics tools
  • Develop and implement proactive alerting to quickly detect service degradation and enable rapid fault isolation
  • Collaborate with Network Operations, Service Ownership, RAN and Core/IMS Engineering teams to validate fixes and optimise network elements impacting voice performance
  • Support the rollout and validation of new voice technologies (including VoNR), including pre‑ and post‑launch performance baselining
  • Analyse the impact of latency, jitter and packet loss on voice quality and ensure accurate QoS provisioning
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of observability practices, tooling and analytics capabilities

Experience

  • Qualification in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Excellent experience in voice performance management, testing or optimisation within a Tier‑1 mobile network environment
  • Strong knowledge of IMS architecture and protocols (SIP, DIAMETER), including VoLTE and VoNR
  • Hands‑on experience with carrier‑grade monitoring and assurance platforms
  • Proven ability to analyse large, complex data sets to diagnose and resolve performance issues
  • Solid understanding of voice quality metrics such as MOS and R‑Factor and how network impairments impact service quality
  • Experience with cloud‑native core or virtualised IMS/voice environments is highly regarded
