Senior User Experience Consultant / Designer (Senior Consultant, UX / UI)

Date: 12-Sep-2022

Location: Singapore, Singapore

Company: Singtel Group

You’re one of those unique people who knows how to use both sides of their brain.

That’s why the UX/UI Practice at NCS Next needs you as a Senior User Experience Consultant / Designer. You’ll get to lead teams and work on some of the most incredible design challenges, problems, systems, and solutions in the world –– bringing your left-brain logical, sensible and structured thinking to life in innovative and empathetic right-brain ways.

What will you do?

You’ll make friends and influence people! Working as part of our terrific team, you’ll turn complex requirements into elegant experiences, as a UX practitioner and team leader.

  • Do what it takes to bring a User Experience to life. Translate the scribbles from a workshop into a persuasive story. Breathe life into a Persona. Sketch User Journeys from scratch (and coach others to make them, too). Turn Use Cases into sensible scope and timelines. Outline wireframes for a low-fi prototype. Write a proposal justifying the value of your team’s work. Not all by yourself!
  • Review the work we do as a team. Run retrospectives after each sprint. Run through the changes suggested by users. And run ahead of the game – getting the work up on the walls and improving the output at every step. Don’t stop the flow – say “yes, and!” or “how might we…?” a lot. Contribute to critiques, and create a culture where it’s safe to say: “what are we missing here?!”.
  • Lead workshops to make them work; lead ideation sessions to fruition; and lead your squad to be empathetic, accurate, inventive, and collaborative every day. Specify what we need to hear from people – and ways of getting them to share it. Go beyond just running workshops; start running projects. Always with an eye on improving things for next time. Again, not all by yourself. Did we say “team” yet?
  • Follow latest developments in the industry, including bestFollow practice guidelines. Teach them to the team; and teach yourself too! Put your hand up to train up in advanced design thinking, the ROI of UX, remote workshopping, user testing, behavioural economics, you name it, we do a lot of it – and share what you know and what you’ve learned. Follow, the luminaries in your field – and be seen to share your own contribution. We want you to be followed, too.

The ideal candidate should be / possess:

  • Epic empathy, a burning desire to change the world… and a few things specific to our field.
  • A degree or certification in Experience Design, Creative Design or another relevant discipline (or so many years of experience that you could be a lecturer yourself).
  • Currently or very recently working in User Experience consulting and design. This is a role for people who can hit the ground running.
  • Evidence of leading projects and/or people at any scale; we want to know what you’ve learned from it.
  • A portfolio of end-to-end UX examples from discovery to delivery, and interesting stories about how it all came together.
  • Proficiency in Adobe XD, Figma, Sketch and/or any of the other industry standard UX design tools. (Our team uses Figma and XD, mostly.)
  • Experience or training in Scrum, Agile, and project management, and some great stories about collaboration.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English. Other languages are a bonus.

What else would we like?

  • You’re trained in dealing with people in some form or another: youth leadership, sports coach, mentoring…
  • You do interesting UX-type things as a sideline. Hosting meetups, hacking public spaces, maintaining a blog of correct apostrophe usage… we’re all ears.
  • You have education or experience outside of the UX core. We want people with a broad view on the way things work

What do you get out of it?

  • A competitive package
  • SingTel Group benefits
  • Training in your core skill (and your next space)
  • Clear and strong career growth opportunities
  • A crazy-good team culture
  • The satisfaction of designing a better user experience for millions of people.
  • Literally: millions.
