We are looking for a Senior/System Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and support our growing infrastructure. You will be part of a IT team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available system and network architectures that meet business objectives and SLAs.

 

The successful candidate will need to excel in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with the ability to multi-task and provide not only operational support for the Backbone but must also work closely with multi-functional teams to resolve critical network incidents.

 

  • Responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of the global Backbone and Internet peering infrastructure.
  • Carry out regular network maintenances to migrate, upgrade and augment the infrastructure that supports both, internal and external customers.
  • Participate in network designs, defining and development of tooling and automations to enable large-scale deployment and operations.
  • Collaborate with vendors on bug fixes and new features, while liaising with peers in Operations/Engineering and Architecture to ensure alignment of technical requirements.
  • You are obsessed over the customer experience and drive operational excellence in their everyday work habits through strong technical leadership and mentorship.
  • Perform daily IT operations support for all IT infrastructure, systems (servers, virtualization etc), data backup & storage and IT assets
  • Responsible for infrastructure-related activities including evaluation, implementation, equipment upgrade, maintenance, and support.
  • Liaise and align with software development team for escalation, project implementation and management, redundancy and high-availability solution.
  • Manage outsourced partners and third-party service providers on service level, quality of services provided.
  • Coordinate on disaster recovery drills, planning and executions
  • Ensure department’s systems comply with all Nxera IT policies (e.g., Processes, Security, Privacy, etc.)
    • Support all audits based on these policies
    • Plan and follow up on remediation for any non-compliance
  • Manage IT projects - e.g.
    • review, plan and execute annual VAPT and ITDR for all systems
    • Plan and execute tech refresh, upgrades, new initiatives, etc.
  • Manage IT vendors
  • Managed IT assets (Both software and hardware). The role requires tracking and recording IT equipment and applying security patches/ updates.
  • Champion for digitization
    • Process optimization
    • Automation, including use of AI/ML where possible
    • BI, big data, analytics, Enhanced SLA reporting
  • Support optimization of energy use (support Green initiatives)
  • Predictive rather than reactive management of departments activities (e.g., maintenance) and resources
  • Responding to and resolving technical issues: This involves troubleshooting servers, software, network, security, and application problems.
  • Ensuring IT security: Responsibilities include maintaining user access controls, managing software licenses, coordinating security awareness training, and assisting with the implementation of security policies and procedures.

 

Skills for Success

 

  • At least 5-8 years of system operations and/or system design background
  • Knowledge in System administration
  • Knowledge in integrating services between various system
  • Knowledge of Internet technologies
  • Experience in System Design and Architecting
  • Experience in Project Management and Vendor Management
  • Knowledge of using popular cloud service providers (AWS, Azure & GCP)
  • Experience with vulnerability assessment & penetration testing (VAPT) tools would be an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated, good team player and willing to learn new skillset
  • University degree in Computer Science or a related subject
