Position Summary

The Design Manager will lead a team of in house (or agency) designers to support various business units in Singtel to develop and define the user experience across all of its digital properties. When required, be also able to leverage external design, research and agency partners to achieve the business objectives.

The role will work in partnership with Business and Product Owners end­-to-­end; from initial concept explorations through to launch and beyond, to create engaging and memorable digital experiences for mobile, tablet, online or TV.

 

The role will also lead small design pods that are being deployed to agile teams/sprints. This will require a strong ability to iterate on the fly, while ensuring that design outputs remain consistent with over-arching design StyleGuides and framework.

 

It is expected that this role will support the Director and Senior Managers of Digital Experience & Design to deliver maximum value and results across various projects and will be accountable for overall design delivery to Business Partners.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and inspire a team of 2 to 4 designers (UX and UI) to deliver on multiple concurrent projects from concept through completion
  • Lead creative sessions for project kick-offs and establishes overall creative vision and direction for projects undertaken
  • Establishes a creative delivery process, ensuring that it is consistently applied and continuously optimized and refined for improved outcomes
  • Accountable for overall project delivery ensuring that projects achieve what is defined in the brief, meets quality standards and is delivered on time
  • Critically analyze design deliverables from internal teams and external vendors and to provide relevant feedback in order to achieve desired outcomes
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and business partners to help shape, define and influence the brief
  • Communicate, defend and build consensus around design direction and approach to all internal stakeholders
  • Engage, present and sell concepts as well as design deliverables to senior management at the VP-level and C-level
  • Hire and backfill vacated roles whenever necessary
  • Be at the forefront of global trends, research and consumer insights in the design field as well as other relevant business verticals

 

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a creative role, and has taken on some creative leadership position
  • Experience leading a client facing project from start to finish
  • Ability to balance design aspirations with business strategy and objectives
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Experience with design software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch
  • Experience with prototyping software such as Marvel, InVision, JustInMind
  • Experience with motion graphics software such as After Effects, Pixate, Origami
  • Undergraduate degree in Fine Arts, HCI or other design-related fields
  • Understanding of technology and technical limitations is a plus
  • Experience working in an agency is a plus
