The Technical Lead takes additional leadership responsibilities within a project. In addition to the general responsibilities and skills, these are the specific requirements for this job:

 

  • Responsibility for detailed technical design at a solution level.
  • Estimating technical effort, work breakdown structure, risks and solutions at a solution level.
  • Responsibility for delivery of overall technical solution to schedule and time.
  • Coaching and mentoring Application Engineers and Senior Application Engineers assigned to the project.
  • Working with one or more Senior Application Engineers and Application Engineers on the project and working with the Project Manager to ensure quality delivery to time, scope and budget.
  • Greater awareness of Project management, Business analysis, and software testing disciplines.
  • Greater awareness of specific business domains.
  • Monitoring adherence to development methodologies, tools, key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Driving increase in software component reuse, platforms, and environment consolidation and championing the goal of reducing overall IT costs.
  • Stakeholder management with key customers ensuring that there is business confidence in the solution being delivered.
  • Managing project change appropriately


Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Providing technical leadership for Microsoft .Net web applications.
  • Deep understanding and experience in building Enterprise Architecture Portal platform.
  • Contribute to UI framework strategy and SDLC.
  • Build and manage templates, widgets, and pattern library components.


Analytical/Decision-Making Responsibilities:

  • Applies judgment in implementing application development/ Application Engineering methodologies, processes, and practices to specific requirements of projects/programs which may include product design, Application Engineering, information security, code maintainability, and reliability.
  • Sound analytical skills and problem-solving skills needed to manage multiple technical challenges simultaneously per each project assigned when needed.
  • Takes accountability for quality technical deliverables to agreed schedule and estimates.
  • Ability to convert business and technical requirements into an appropriate technical solution.
  • Proactively identifies and addresses technical strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
  • Team to identify solutions; selects and implements most appropriate solution raising issues to an appropriate lead role.


Supervision Responsibilities:

  • Obtains necessary supervision and support to ensure quality adherence to Application Engineering methodologies standards, leading practices, budgets, and timelines are met.
  • Lends expertise to internal IT teams and task forces as well as other IT projects/programs.
  • Maintains effective and consistent communication within the team, with peers and leaders across own and other teams.
  • Ability to coach and mentor peers and other team members as part of embedding a high performing culture.
  • Ability to challenge constructively and ensure that the broader IT and firm strategy is taken into consideration when designing and developing solutions.


Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • At least 8+ years of relevant work experience with a concentration in front end design and backend development
  • At least 2 years of Outsystems platform experience in development.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft development tools including Visual Studio 2008/2010 and TFS.
  • Strong programming experience with .Net Framework, ASP.Net, C#, LINQ, WPF, WCF, MVC, XML and SAML 1.1/2.0.
  • At least 2 to 3+ years of hands-on experience in HTML5, CSS3, and JQuery.
  • Extensive experience with AJAX and Java Script.
  • Experience with web service standards (WCF, REST, and SOAP). Also an ability to create secure web services.
  • Microsoft SQL Server Database, Analysis, Integration and Reporting Services ASP.Net, and client web development.
  • Familiar with supporting peer teams and responsibilities such as infrastructure, operations, enterprise architecture, info security.


Experiences:

  • 5+ years in a Telco Business environment
  • 2 to 3 years as a technical lead
  • Experience in both Waterfall and Agile/Scrum Methodology is required
  • Work experience in a professional services industry preferred


Education:

  • A degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Any application architecture design Certification is a plus
